Is treatment covered by health insurance?

Many if not most health insurance companies generally cover treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine by MBAcC practitioners, including HSA, HSF, Aviva, AXA Health, Westfield, WHA, Foresters, BUPA, Vitality and more.

Confirm with your insurers that your policy covers your condition and the treatment.

What can I expect from my first treatment?

At the start of the first treatment, the initial step is to make a full diagnosis. I like to get to know my patients as well as possible, and find out all the factors that have led to the problems he or she is experiencing.  We will then discuss a treatment plan and perform your first treatment, usually involving acupuncture.

How does diagnosis work?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is usually achieved by taking a variety of measurements through the wrist known as “the pulse”, looking at the colour, shape and coating of the tongue and checking various physical and structural alignments in the body. These methods have been used for thousands of years, and are very good at highlighting systemic imbalances in the body and mind, and allow formulation of a treatment plan.

Is Acupuncture safe?

All acupuncture needles are single-use only, sterilised and disposed of safely immediately after use.

How would acupuncture make me feel?

Most people find acupuncture to be very relaxing, and often report feelings of relief and clarity of mind. Many people also experience higher alertness and greater energy. There can be some feelings of heat and cold moving through the body, and tingling as well. All of these feelings are quite normal during an acupuncture session.

What kind of Treatment will I receive?

I will recommend a treatment plan during your initial consultation, but you are free to chose any treatment methodology that suits you. The exact treatment plan is a confidential matter between the practitioner and the patient.

It should be noted that treatment plans are not static, and can and will change as your body responds to treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your individual condition. There are many factors that influence the length of a course of treatment, and this can be discussed during your initial consultation.

Given my very extensive and broad experience, I can often resolve even serious conditions in only a few treatments. Many conditions can be treated quickly, and most patients report significant improvements after the first or second session.
